Hi, I am Denham, though many call me "Don." Like most of us, I’ve worn many hats throughout my life. An avid cricket fan, a marketing lecturer, and for a brief time, a restaurateur. My recent joy was in becoming a married husband.
Since early childhood, my one constant love has always been to give back to society and support my mother country, Sri Lanka. It has taken me till adulthood to realize that mastering the art of giving, is a life-long journey. I hope to help give back to society and my country through Live, Love & Give - an organisation I initiated in 2016.
Hi I’m Maneshka. My grandfather is my role model, my idol. He was an active social worker and gave so much of his life to those in need and I have accompanied him on many such occasions. Those experiences have made me who I am today. It has taught me to put others before myself. My grandfather is long gone now but his spirit lives within me every time I make the slightest change in someone’s life or bring a smile to a mother who has been beaten down by hardships.
Spending 3 years in India for my Bachelors in Journalism, Psychology and English Literature gave me the exposure I needed to strive to be a better person, to give myself to others whenever I can. Life has taken me on so many paths. I have worked for 7 years as a Program Director for a French documentary program and a short stint as a Senior French teacher, but now I’m a proud mother of 2 and the owner of my own home baking business.
I’m humbled to work with Live Love and Give. I believe, if we have helped at least one person to stand on his or her own two feet, then we have achieved what we have been put on this earth for and I’m glad I’m able to partake in that through Live Love and Give.
Hi All, I am Sajeev. Even though I work in a corporate organisation, I have always felt towards socialistic ideologies. For me, as a person each and everyone in the world deserves an equal opportunity and a platform to do what they love and are passionate towards. I believe, it is the responsibility of the people who have gotten that opportunity to help those who might not have the same hope. The association with LLG allows me to help whoever possible in the small way it is possible to get them an opportunity that they deserve.
When I was doing my undergraduate degree at the University of Jaffna, it was within 2 years after the war had ended. It helped me to lay the foundational steps on what I believed in. As a student, you couldn't do much due to the financial restrictions I did have as a student. But the association with LLG now, I hope, would allow me to help people who require this assistance on a larger scale.
Being a lawyer by profession, aside from work, my passion is to travel and read (though lately I don’t seem to be doing much of either)!
Apart from the usual hustle and bustle of life, I believe that each of us has a duty towards the community we live in. From a very young age, my dad had inculcated in us, the habit of giving, and sharing our privileges - whatever it may be - with those who may be less fortunate. We were always taught that the smallest contribution goes a long way!
I’m thankful to the platform that Live, Love & Give has created for me to contribute to this in my own way. Its message of fostering sustainability in its projects is one which I'm particularly proud to be a part of, in the hope that one day in the not too distant future, that we could truly make a difference and contribute towards making the world a much better place.
My name is Melanctha Cruse, and I work as a sales and PR executive for Global Education Platform.
Since the time I was little, I have considered myself blessed and have looked to help the less fortunate in whatever way I can. During my time at school, I was an active member of the Interact Club for 7 years, and during this time I had the opportunity to be a part of numerous community service projects.
I am glad to be a part of Live, Love, and Give, and I am excited to see how we can collectively impact our community for the greater good.
Hi, I'm Rushika! Ever since I was a little girl, I've had this inner drive to make a difference in the lives of those around me. I've always felt like I should use the opportunities I’ve been blessed with to help others. With a background in psychology, my studies and practice have helped me to truly understand people and fueled my passion to be there for others and promote mental health and well-being.
Even though I'm not actively practicing anymore, my love and passion for helping others has never wavered. From feeding stray dogs on the street to having heartfelt conversations with homeless elders to serving through the social service club in school, I've always sought out ways to give back to my community.
And now, I feel so grateful to be a part of Live Love and Give, where I can continue to fulfill that and be on the journey of making a positive impact on the communities around me.
I am Dickson, a doctor by profession who is currently attached to Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
It has always been my dream to help the needy, and working as a doctor and then being attached to hospitals in rural areas has helped me to stay humble, and the fire of passion for social work burns within me.
I am grateful and thankful for being able to share my passion via LLG
Hi I am Shenella Perumal, Shene to those near and dear to me.
I am a finance professional By profession who was in need of a change out of my monotonous life in Sri Lanka which prompted me to explore life in a different country on my own. I am currently pursuing my Masters in business analytics at the University of Hertfordshire.
Growing up my father instilled in my sisters and I to always appreciate the small things in life, to always share especially with those in need and to give back to the community in whatever way possible and I’ve stuck by them through out the years.
I strongly believe that being part of this foundation would further help me to live up to them. In the words of the great Mahathma Gandhi "We rise by lifting others & the best way to find ourselves is to lose ourselves serving others.” I am very grateful for the opportunity I have been presented with, at Live Love & Give.
Angel De Silva
Hi, I am Angel De Silva. I currently work as a Support Coordinator and a Psychosocial Recovery Coach. I have been working with migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, people with forensic backgrounds and with people diagnosed with physical and psychosocial disabilities. Having experienced mental health challenges and disadvantages myself, the biggest learning through my experiences and work is that each person is an expert in their own life. So I am very excited to support the Live Love and Give group who works towards empowering and capacity building of people to enable equality.
